Achievement Unlocked: February Album Complete!

Well, THAT was a lot of work!

Yup — I’m done. I have finished 10 original songs for an album for February (14, if you count the re-recordings I did of songs I wrote before this month). Bit of a squeaker, really — only a few days left! I’m not going to write any more, though. If this last song has taught me anything, it’s that I have a finite amount of inspiration available to me. I’m really starting to repeat myself, and that’s a sure sign it’s time to stop.

So, here you go: Nothing fancy, just guitar and vocal (because I simply haven’t got any energy left to devote to adding all of the other stuff I think it needs right now).

Since I have a few days left, I may go back and remix some of the earlier songs, making use of what I’ve learned from the recent ones. I’m not re-recording anything, though. Done is done. Maybe if I ever decide to use any of them for an actual album, I’ll redo them (or enlist someone more competent to help me do so). I’m just happy I was able to get 10 songs together. Accomplishment! Whoohoo!

Here’s the whole project, reassembled a bit; I’ve rearranged the list and deleted a couple of the older songs, so I can pretend it’s actually an album and not just a mess I made. :)

Ultimately, I think there are only one or two real keepers in there, but the whole project was worth doing. Someday I’ll write something good! Hell, I may even know how to mix a darn song by then. For now, it’s back to busy life doing other things. I have covers to get back to, after all — one challenge down, one LOOOOOONG ongoing challenge still to go!

About L. M. Bernhardt

For a good long while (15 years or so), I taught philosophy at a little private university in northwest IA, and occasionally branched out into playing music, dabbling in photography, experimenting with food, and writing nonsense on my blog. The philosophy teaching part ended in 2017 (program elimination via prioritization), but never fear! I've just finished my MLIS at San Jose State University, and I'm currently on the market looking for new adventures in either philosophy or LIS. For now, I labor at a fairly interesting administrative job in order to support my dogs in the lavish manner to which they've become accustomed.
