365 DotU, Day 130 Has Summoned The Flying Monkeys

Wow — I get slower and slower at this! So busy! How could I possibly have time to add another project, when I can’t even finish this one in a timely manner?

Oh, yes. I AM adding another project.

It’s super-secret, though, until it’s done. Right now, just know this: I am recording a bunch of lullabies and other sweet stuff, just uke and vocal, and this is the first rough attempt at one song: the classic Somewhere Over The Rainbow, which has a much more famous ukulele version that I simply couldn’t emulate. I tried to find a sort of happy medium between Garland and IZ, and I think it sort of works. I tried it on the guitar, and it’s playable that way, but it feels little sweeter on the ukulele, so I ran with it.

The recording technology and I continue to be at war lately — I never seem to find quite the sound I like. I’m working on it!

About L. M. Bernhardt

For a good long while (15 years or so), I taught philosophy at a little private university in northwest IA, and occasionally branched out into playing music, dabbling in photography, experimenting with food, and writing nonsense on my blog. The philosophy teaching part ended in 2017 (program elimination via prioritization), but never fear! I've just finished my MLIS at San Jose State University, and I'm currently on the market looking for new adventures in either philosophy or LIS. For now, I labor at a fairly interesting administrative job in order to support my dogs in the lavish manner to which they've become accustomed.
